About this school
Lourdes Convent School at Athwalines was established in 1958 by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, starting with 26 students in the pre-primary section; the Carmelite Sisters, of the Congregation of Carmelite Religious, took over the institution in 1978. It is organised into the Prem Niketan pre-primary section, the Primary, the Secondary and the Higher Secondary sections, with students sitting the SSC Board examinations. The school presents itself as a pioneer in education for girls in Surat, though its own history page describes the school as having grown to be co-educational up to SSC.
